UmeVoice

	The hardware division of UmeVoice, UmeClarity, was created when a group of UmeVoice engineers set out to meet the challenge presented by the noisy environment traders work in. The engineers were charged with preventing trading floor noise from interfering with the voice recognition capabilities of UmeVoice's software. Their efforts resulted in an elegant acoustical solution with application possibilities far beyond its original intent. The hardware division has already adapted the technology for use in several other products such as microphones and cellular phones-essentially any electronic device in which clear sound is critical. UmeVoice is also beginning to license the technology to other manufacturers to integrate into their products.

	UmeVoice is headquartered in the United States in Novato, California (in the San Francisco Bay Area), where the UmeClarity division is also located. UmeVoice has a customer support office in Jersey City, New Jersey from which it services its Wall Street customers.

UmeVoice, Inc. was founded in 1995. The goals of the company were:

	1.		To overcome the most common stumbling blocks to developing successful voice recognition product: the desires to accommodate natural, continuous speech, and also user independence. In the financial services market we saw the opportunity to develop voice recognition software with a very intuitive interface. Rather than requiring the system to understand the entire English dictionary and grammar, our linguists are faced with the limited vocabulary and grammar of trade jargon. Thus, UmeVoice linguists and engineers were able to develop a product that supports traders' natural speech and user-independent voice recognition engines.

	2.		To create extremely reliable applications for mission critical apps. Our mantra, "Fast, Accurate, Easy to Use" led us to other design innovations, and eventually our current highly successful architecture.
